  • The Only Resolution That Matters

    Jan 01, 2019

A fresh New Year is in front of us. Even if this is just another day, humanity once created calendars with definitions of lengths of time to signify important passages and turning points. Around the world, we people celebrate the end of a year used up and the beginning of a new one as filled with promise and hope and change for the better. It is a positive and life-giving practice. And probably not one to go out of fashion anytime soon.

Many of us ponder on this day more than any other day of the year, the things we want to do, to do better, to start, to end, to pursue or to engage in. We decide how we want to be more of this or less of that, and how love fits into it all.

Have you been writing your list today?
Or are you executing already with vigor and intent that you hope you can keep up all year?

How many New Years have one or more of the items on your list been on the list?

Are you cruising the Internet reading all kinds of advice on New Year's resolutions, how to write them and how to keep them?

Is there a little voice in the back that demands that this is the year you will follow through, while another little voice whispers ever so quietly….”yeah right?”

No matter what is on your list, there is only one resolution that really matters in the end:
to keep the agreements you make with yourself.

Life happens, our focus changes, we get distracted. Doubt might sneak in. What you intended might be taking longer or stand still. Life happens.

Here is my advice for the New Year:
intentions are great, but decisions are real. Make a decision.

Then practice taking the agreements you make with yourself as seriously as those you make with others.

Now, it matters less what is on your list.
It matters how seriously you take yourself.

    Have a powerful year!
